OTTAWA — Contract talks between Ottawa-Glandorf schools and the teachers union will continue next month.
According to a posting on the school district’s website, both sides agreed to continue to meet with a federal mediator. They last met on Sept. 17. The next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 17.
Teachers have been working under an expired contract since the old one ended on July 30, 2018.
The school district is affected by funding cutbacks at the state level.
According to the district’s website “state funding has increased by an average of .78% per year since 2014. That is three consecutive state budget cycles without a substantial increase in state funding, so while funding to the district has gone up less than 1% each year, the district’s health insurance costs have gone up by an average of 15.5% per year for the last five years.”
