Police guidelines for residents

WAPAKONETA — Wapakoneta is bracing for the visit of President Donald Trump to Pratt Industries on Sunday.

On the Wapakoneta police department’s Facebook page they have a few guidelines on how this might affect parking and traffic during the president’s visit.

AT PRATT: People attending the presidential visit at Pratt Industries will need to be at the high school parking lot no later than 1:30 p.m. You cannot have purses, bags or cameras. Only bring your ID and cell phone with you. Only invited attendees will be allowed on the shuttle buses.

• NO PARKING AREAS: There will be no parking allowed on Commerce Drive, Progress Drive and Short Road from Saturday night at 11:59 p.m. until Sunday night at 11:59 p.m. There will be no parking allowed along the road on County Road 25A South between Industrial Drive and Owl Creek Road. There will also be no bystanders allowed along the roadway. Vehicles cannot stop or park on the overpass or entrance/exit ramps of US 33. Vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense and there is no exceptions.

• RESIDENTS and businesses on Commerce Drive, Progress Drive, Short Road and CR 25A: Officers have made personal contact with businesses and residents in the area about what to expect during Sunday’s visit. Please follow the guidelines given by law enforcement officials. We appreciate your cooperation.

• BYSTANDERS wanting to view the motorcade: There is a section available for bystanders to view the motorcade procession. We will have a section roped off on the north side of the City Pond on Willipie Street. Vehicles will not be permitted to park inside the designated area or along Willipie Street. This area is for pedestrians only. Parking is limited on Industrial Drive. Those wanting to view should consider parking elsewhere and walk to this location.

COUNTY ROAD 25A closure: Plan on the road being closed between Industrial Drive and Owl Creek Rd for several hours. Police do not have a definite time frame but 3 pm until early evening is tentatively the most accurate information at this time.
