Botkins man killed in 2-car crash in Mercer County


CELINA — A Shelby County man has died of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle traffic accident in Mercer County on Wednesday evening.

According to a statement from the Wapakoneta post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 7:22 p.m. at U.S. 127 and Clover Four Road, south of Celina.

Jordan Fledderjohann, 26, of Botkins, was pronounced dead at the Mercy Health Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater following the crash. Police say he was westbound on Clover Four Road and failed to stop at the intersection of U.S. 127. His vehicle was struck by a Nissan Frontier driven by Jessica Zapata, 23, of Weslaco, Texas.

Zapata and her passenger Andrea Garza, 6 of Weslaco, Texas, were transported to the Mercy Health Mercer County Community Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol is not suspected in this crash, the report said, and the crash remains under investigation.
