Vacant Lima home damaged by Wednesday evening fire

LIMA — A fire of undetermined origin caused an estimated $20,000 in damage to a vacant residential structure in Lima on Wednesday night.

A spokesman for the Lima Fire Department said firefighters were dispatched at approximately 8:40 p.m. to 710 E. Catalpa Ave. after a passerby reported a structure fire at that location. Upon their arrival firefighters found heavy flames coming from the rear of the unoccupied structure owned by Willie Banks, which had no electrical or natural gas service.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
