LIMA — Police have identified the Lima man who was the victim of a drive-by shooting Tuesday afternoon west of the downtown area.

Savon Jackson, 23, suffered a single gunshot wound to his lower back during an incident that took place at approximately 12:30 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Elm and Nye streets. Jackson was transported from the scene of the shooting to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s, just a few blocks away, and was treated for what police believe to be non-life threatening injuries.

Police located multiple shell casings within the intersection of Nye and Elm streets, according to a statement, and believe the suspect fired multiple rounds at Jackson while traveling in a vehicle on Nye Street.

The incident remains under investigation and detectives are following up on several tips, the report said. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Detective Matt Boss at 419-812-0061 or Lima Allen County CrimeStoppers at 419-229-STOP (7867).
