Shawnee Fire receives $48K FEMA grant

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — The Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded $48,313 to Shawnee Township Fire Department to replace an aging air compressor the department uses to fill its self-contained breathing apparatuses, the masks firefighters wear while on the job.

Shawnee Township Fire Chief Todd Truesdale said the department’s current breathing air compressor is about 30 years old. The department will cover $2,400, or 5%, of the new machine’s cost.
