LIMA — Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center President Ronda Lehman has been named president of the health network’s Lima market, overseeing the medical center, affiliated outpatient services, operations and growth in the 10-county Lima region as of Sept. 1.

Lehman, who will retain her role as president of the medical center, identified several growth projects already underway in the Lima market, including the anticipated Graduate Medical Education Center, which will train residents here in Lima, with more plans in development.

“I want to continue to be the region’s leader and region’s referral center for facilities in surrounding counties,” she said. “I believe with our mission and our ministry, we have a unique opportunity in how we deliver health care in our community.”

Mercy Health merged with fellow Catholic health care provider Bon Secours in 2018.

Lehman, a Lima native, has been with the Mercy Health network for 24 years.

Lehman started her career in Lima as a pharmacy intern in 1995 and later assumed leadership roles ranging from director of pharmacy, chief network integration officer for the Lima region, chief operating officer of Mercy Health Physicians and, most recently, president of Mercy Health-St. Rita's Medical Center.

“Ronda is a dynamic leader who will continue to enhance the patient experience and help meet the ever-changing needs of the Lima community,” said Donald Kline, president of Bon Secours Mercy Health Great Lakes Group, in a statement announcing Lehman’s appointment.

In addition to the new Graduate Medical Education Center, which is slated to break ground this fall and expand the hospital’s local residency programs, Mercy Health-St. Rita’s earned several awards under Lehman’s tenure in 2019, including the designation as a Top 100 Hospital and a Magnet recognition for nursing care.

The hospital is also now affiliated with The Ohio State James Cancer Research Center, offering local physicians access to multi-disciplinary teams, research, specialists and 200 oncologists.

“I’m humbled and excited about the opportunity and have great hopes for Mercy Health in our market,” Lehman said Tuesday.

Past Lima market president Bob Baxter, who oversaw operations in the region from 2010 through 2019, will continue acting as president of Mercy Health’s Toledo market, a position he has held since 2017.
