Putnam County Historical Society to hear about town names


Putnam County Historical Society: 1:30 p.m. museum annex building, 201 E. Main St., Kalida.

KALIDA — The Putnam County Historical Society will meet at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, in the museum annex building, 201 E. Main St., Kalida.

Ruth Wilhelm, head of the local history and genealogy department of the Putnam County District Library, will speak about where the names came from for current and abandoned Putnam County towns, townships and creeks.

Nora Basinger, who has served as the registrar of the museum since 1989, will be recognized. Girl Scout member Gwen Miller-Martz will also speak briefly about her Gold Award project to add self-guided tours of the museum using iPhones and notebooks.
