Celina man dies in tractor accident


CELINA — A tractor accident in Celina has resulted in the death of a local man when he tried to remove a large log from a wooded area, according to initial reports by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched to the residence of Douglas J. Randall, 57, of Celina, after a Monday morning call revealed that a Ford 8N tractor had overturned and landed on Randall as he was using it to remove a large log near his residence. When deputies arrived, Randall was located, pinned by the tractor. He was removed from underneath and transported by Celina EMS to Mercer Health in Coldwater, where he died.

Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reported that his office is investigating the accident.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Celina EMS and the Celina Fire Department.
