Bellefontaine Avenue closed for one week starting Tuesday

LIMA — Kirk Niemeyer, engineer for the City of Lima, reports that Bellefontaine Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Calumet Avenue and Shawnee Street beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday. The road will be closed for seven days to allow for the construction of a permanent railroad crossing.

Through truck traffic on state Route 117 and state Route 309 will be detoured to Pine Street, St. Johns Avenue, Fourth Street and Interstate 75, with signage and changeable message boards. Local traffic is urged to use North Street, High Street and Kibby Street during the closure.
