SPENCERVILLE — Ben Sudhoff, 17, a senior at Spencerville High School is hoping to use his love of STEM subjects as a springboard to a career.
“I want to go into engineering. I really like math and science and so I probably will go into chemical engineering. It’s challenging and this is what I’m interested in,” he said.
He’s applying to the University of Cincinnati.
He’s also active in music at the school.
“I’m very involved with the band program. I play French horn in the band and I also do jazz band and I play the piano in that. I’ve taken piano lessons for about ten years and I also teach some,” he said.
Sudhoff is a member of the National Honor Society and is a member of the student council.
His love of music should have a profound impact on whatever he chooses to do.
“It definitely teaches you about teamwork. It’s also individual work because you have to be able to play your own part but then also in the group so it really teaches you how to work on yourself but also with others,” he said.
He says he’s looking forward to his senior year.
“It’ll be a little sad but I think it will also be fun,” he said.
He appreciates the opportunity to take College Credit Plus classes while he’s still in high school.
“We have some CCP classes here but then we also have the option to take classes from Rhodes or OSU Lima and I’ve done that. I’ve taken multiple online classes through Rhodes and then I have taken some of the CCP classes offered here at the school so I think that will definitely help me, having already taken college classes for when I go to college,” she said.
