MARIA STEIN — The Maria Stein Shrine of the Holy Relics will continue its speaker series with “Legendary Relics” presented by Matthew Hess at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at the church, 2291 St. Johns Road, Maria Stein.
The presentation will include relics specific to the Maria Stein collection and throughout Christianity. The Relic Chapel will be open before and after the event.
Tickets are $30 at the door or online at www.mariasteinshrine.org. The event will include a meal by Bella’s Italian Grille.
The series will continue with Dr. Allen Bernard on October 13 with a historical presentation on the “Lost Treasures of Granville & Marion Townships.”
Mr. Hess has been the Director of Ministry at the Maria Stein Shrine for three years. He holds a Master’s Degree in Theological Studies from the University of Dayton, where he wrote his thesis on the rise and fall of Sisters of the Precious Blood ministering in the schools in and around Mercer County.
Join us as we will discuss some the legends that have been passed down with various relics, both across the world and here at the Shrine. Many times these past events are used to help authenticate various relics and make for entertaining dinner conversation.
