Injuries reported in 3-vehicle accident in Ottawa

OTTAWA — A three-car crash Tuesday afternoon required one driver to be extricated from his vehicle and be transported with injuries to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s, Lima.

According to Ottawa Police Department Patrolman Shane Vance, the crash occurred at 2:47 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of state Route 65 and Williamstown Road. The names of those involved in the accident have not been released.

A male driver who was driving a Lincoln was attempting to make a right turn onto state Route 65 off of Williamstown Road, Vance said. He pulled out into the northbound lane of 65 where there was a northbound vehicle, a Dodge Ram, that struck his vehicle on the rear driver’s side door. A third vehicle, a Chevrolet Malibu, was sitting in the turn lane of 65 attempting to turn onto Williamstown Road when the second vehicle rolled into the vehicle.

The driver of the Lincoln was taken to the hospital. The other two drivers did not report injuries.

Ottawa Police Department and Putnam County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
