Aug. 12

Jonathon E. Maxwell, 32, 1721 Durango Drive, Defiance, was sentenced to 17 months in prison for attempted failure to register. He was given credit for 24 days served.

Juanita L. Austermiller, 49, 230 N. East St., McClure, was sentenced to 180 days jail for attempted possession drugs (cocaine) and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs. The sentence was ordered to be served concurrently and 150 days was suspended. The judge credited 22 days previously served. She was fined $1,000 with $625 suspended and given a one-year license suspension. She must obtain and maintain employment and successfully complete all counseling and treatment recommended.

Aug. 14

Charles P. McCullough, Ottawa, and Tami J. McCullough, Columbus Grove, were granted a dissolution of marriage. They were married Sept. 16, 2000, in Gilboa and have no children.

Aug. 15

Jessica L. McClure, 26, Fort Jennings, was sentenced to seven years in prison for involuntary manslaughter and four counts endangering children. She was given credit for 106 days served. McClure was charged in connection to the death of her son last November and endangering her other children.

According to Putnam County Sheriff’s Office reports, at approximately 5 p.m. Nov. 7, 2018, the sheriff’s office responded to a 911 call claiming an unresponsive child was found at 23090 Road Q, Lot L, in Fort Jennings. The Ottoville EMS and law enforcement were dispatched to that location, and a child was transported to the Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center. The child was pronounced dead at the Ambulatory Care Center.

McClure testified in court she put her sons down for a nap before going to work. She had her pills in a box with duct tape and the child woke up and got into the box and ingested the pills.

Brian C. Schmersal, Pandora, and Julie K. Schmersal, Pandora, were granted a dissolution of marriage. They were married Jan. 14, 2014 in Hocking County and have one child.

Michael L. Hooter, 38, 632 Holmes Ave., Lima, was found to be in contempt in failing to pay child support. He was found to be in total arrears in the amount of $19,750.02. The sentencing was continued until 8 a.m. Nov. 27.

Putnam County Municipal Court dispositions

Aug. 9

David J. Cole, 47, 409 W. Main St., Leipsic, pleaded guilty to failure to comply with order of police officer. Sentence: 30 days jail, $150 fine. He also pleaded guilty to driving under FRA non-compliance suspension. Sentence: 30 days jail, $150 fine, sentence to be served concurrent. Charges of fictitious plates, no operator’s license, driving under suspension and turn signals were dismissed.

Aug. 13

Kevin A. Baker, 61, 711 N. Belmore St., #22, Leipsic, pleaded guilty to OVI. Sentence: Six points, 180 days jail, 177 days suspended, $750 fine, $375 suspended, one-year license suspension, with credit for three days jail upon completion of DIP. He was also fined $50 for turn signals. Another charge of OVI was dismissed.

Aug. 15

Juan C. Gomez-Hernandez, 38, 211 Riverview Drive, Ottawa, pleaded guilty to domestic violence. Sentence: 10 days jail, no fine or court costs due to being indigent.

Josalyna L. Baney, 36, 815 Orchard St., Lot 12, Leipsic, pleaded guilty to passing bad checks. Sentence: 10 days jail, suspended, $150 fine and restitution of $209.08 to AJ’s Carryout. Two counts of passing bad checks were dismissed.
