Allen County Museum to host ‘The History of Quilting in Ohio from Statehood to World War II’

LIMA — The Allen County Museum will host guest speaker Becky Preiss Odom, history curator from Ohio History Connection, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, in Folsom Auditorium, 620 W. Market St., Lima.

She will present “The History of Quilting in Ohio from Statehood to World War II” in conjunction with the museum’s quilting exhibit.

Ms. Odom holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Haverford College and a master’s degree in history museum studies from the Cooperstown Graduate Program. She earned her doctorate in American studies from Saint Louis University. Ms. Odom has worked extensively in museum education and at numerous museum’s with collections holding quilts, textiles and furniture.

Becky joined the Ohio History Connection in 2014, where she curates the quilt, textile, fine art, and decorative arts collections. Ms. Odom has contributed to several exhibits at the Ohio History Connection’s 50 plus sites throughout the state of Ohio, including Creative Ohio: Artists, Artwork, and Their Inspiration, World War I-Era Collections, 1914-1918, and Zanesville Art Pottery: Mass Production and the Craft Tradition.
