Fort Wayne man killed in St. Henry industrial accident

ST. HENRY — Police say a 23-year-old Fort Wayne man died Friday morning in an industrial accident at Rindler Poultry, 5424 Watkins Road, St. Henry.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Alexis Ivan Gutierrez Sanvicente, 23, of Fort Wayne, Ind.

The accident reportedly took place around 7:56 a.m. Friday, according to Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey. Sanvicente used a Genie Tele handler to lift items into the air to a platform. Sanvicente stepped onto the vehicle in an attempt to unload it, causing the load to shift, and he fell approximately 30 feet to the ground.

Sanvicente received CPR treatment but was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by St. Henry EMS and first responders.
