North Carolina couple identified as victims in Wednesday traffic crash

LIMA — Authorities with the Lima post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol have released the identities of two North Carolina residents who were killed in a two-vehicle traffic crash Wednesday afternoon near Beaverdam.

Suzanne Schaab, 77, and David Schaab, 78, both of Swansboro, N.C., died of injuries sustained when the vehicle driven by Suzanna Schaab reportedly pulled into the path of another vehicle at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Thayer Road shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday.

A pickup truck driven by Hillard Craft, 54, of Fostoria, struck the Schaab vehicle on its left side. Both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene by Allen County Coroner’s Investigator Heather Lee.

Craft received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

The patrol was assisted by Beaverdam Richland Fire Department and EMS, Miller’s Auto Towing, Kenny’s Auto Wrecking, Cairo-Monroe Township EMS, The Allen County Coroner’s Office and the Coweta County (Georgia) Sheriff Department.
