LIMA — Two men were taken into custody Monday evening for discharging a fire extinguisher in a Lima motel.

Harvey Robinette, 48, of Toledo, and Thomas Phillips, 52, of Adrian, Michigan, were arrested by Lima police after firefighters from the Lima Fire Department were dispatched to the Holiday Inn, 803 S. Leonard Ave., shortly before 10 p.m.

According to a fire department spokesman, the two men were in a hallway on the third floor of the hotel when they discharged the fire extinguisher, causing the chemical compound inside the extinguisher to coat the walls and floor. No damage estimate was provided, and the incident remains under investigation, the spokesman said.

Some hotel patrons were removed from their rooms temporarily during the investigation.
