Little information released on rape charges against Lima man

LIMA — A 21-year-old Lima man charged with raping a St. Marys woman earlier this year pleaded not guilty Friday in Allen County Common Pleas Court during his arraignment hearing.

A grand jury earlier this month indicted Buck Asmann with two counts of rape, felonies of the first degree. The charges allege that Asmann on or about April 15 “did engage in sexual conduct with another … by force or threat of force.”

Lima Municipal Court Judge Tammie Hursh last month upheld a motion filed by prosecutors to seal the affidavit in support of Asmann’s arrest. Prosecutors claimed the release of information contained within the affidavit “could seriously jeopardize the investigation as well as seriously prejudice all parties involved in the case.”

Hursh ordered the affidavit to be placed under seal until further orders to the contrary.
