LIMA — Allen County Commissioners have approved the posting of 12 more bridges with signs spelling out load limitations.

The new postings increase to 43 the total number of bridges in the county with load limitations.

Allen County Deputy Engineer Ron Meyer said that just because a bridge is posted with a load limit sign does not necessarily mean a bridge is unsafe. Changing federal guidelines on necessary signage changes often, and posting is often a result of coming into compliance with federal laws.

Meanwhile, three bridges were approved for a special haul vehicle load limit, which gives warning to drivers of large three-axle dump trucks.

Those bridges include:

• Hancock Road Bridge, Richland Township

• Dixie Highway Bridge, Richland Township

• Hillville Road Bridge, Richland Township

An additional nine bridges were approved for an emergency vehicle load limit, which are posted to warn large fire department vehicles.

Those bridges include:

• Lincoln Highway Bridge, Marion Township

• Kill Road Bridge, Spencer Township

• Purdy Road Bridge, Spencer Township

• Rockport Road Bridge, Richland Township

• Auglaize Road Bridge, Perry Township

• Pevee Road Bridge, Jackson Township

• Napoleon Road Bridge, Jackson Township

• Creps Road Bridge, Auglaize Township

• Berry Road Bridge, American Township
