LIMA — The Lima Area Concert Band will present “Salute to Sousa” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Veterans Memorial Civic Center, 7 Town Square, Lima.
The performance will feature percussionist Bridget Olenik and countertenor Joshua Boggs.
Bridget Olenik is an active performer, composer, arranger and educator in the midwest. She has coached drum lines, bands, percussion ensembles, front ensembles and private students throughout states of Iowa, Indiana, and Ohio. As a performer, Bridget has played in a wide variety of genres from the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra to the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps. Currently, she is principal timpanist for the Urbana Pops Orchestra.
When not in the concert hall, Bridget enjoys performing for school music programs all over the midwest, inspiring the next generation of music makers through her performance and guidance.
Joshua Boggs maintains an active profile as a vocalist. He has sung abroad, appearing as a soloist in concerts in Chile, Italy, and Mexico. Most recently, he was the soloist in an interdisciplinary performance of Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with the Jessica Lang Dance Company. Previous solo engagements include Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms with the Central Ohio Symphony, and Mendelssohn’s Elijah at Notre Dame. Josh currently serves as Instructor of Choral Music at Goshen College for the 2018-19 academic year, where he directs the Men’s Chorus and teaches in the choral and vocal areas.
