Blanchard River in Ottawa crests at 24.5 feet

OTTAWA — The Blanchard River in Ottawa crested at 24.5 feet Monday before midnight, according to officials with the National Weather Service.

Kyle Brown, meteorologist, said this exceeds the minor flood stage of 23 feet. The river levels were falling Tuesday and will reach below the flood stage around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Brown advises motorists to pay attention to road closed signs due to flooding and turn around and find an alternative route.
