GILBOA — A barn fire southeast of Gilboa took firefighters from four departments four hours to put out Friday morning. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

Blanchard Township Gilboa Fire Department Chief Nicholas Wentz said Ian Stall, who owns the barn at 11978 Road 1-K southwest of Gilboa, called Putnam County 911 at 1:25 a.m. Friday and reported his barn was on fire.

The barn was fully engulfed with flames when firefighters arrived, Wentz said. Also on scene were Pandora, Blanchard Township and McComb fire departments, along with Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and EMS also were on scene.

Wentz said there were no animals in the barn, but mowers and other equipment were damaged. The barn is a total loss.

The barn was insured, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
