LIMA — A fire of undetermined origin caused an estimated $15,000 in damage to a Lima residence Thursday morning.

According to a spokesman for the Lima Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched shortly after 9 a.m. to a residence at 715 W. Eureka St., Lima, in reference to a structure fire. Upon arrival, firemen found heavy flames and smoke coming from a laundry room in the rear of the residence. The blaze was quickly extinguished.

The cause of the fire was unknown Thursday afternoon, but foul play was not suspected.

The owner/occupant of the home, Doug Isabell, and his family safely exited the home once the fire was detected. The Red Cross was brought in to help the family find temporary lodging.
