OTTAWA — A Continental man charged with seven counts rape and four counts of gross sexual imposition will be required to submit to a polygraph test.

A pretrial hearing was Wednesday morning in Putnam County Common Pleas Court for Michael T. Huizenga, 51, who is accused of having sexual contact with a juvenile less than 13 years old every year since 2013 in Putnam County. The year of birth of the alleged victim is 2009.

During Wednesday’s pretrial hearing, Judge Keith Schierloh approved a request by Todd Schroeder, Putnam County assistant prosecutor, for Huizenga to complete the polygraph in the next three weeks. Schierloh set a pretrial status conference for 11 a.m. June 10. Huizenga attended Wednesday’s hearing with his family and agreed to take the polygraph exam. He was represented by his attorney, Ian Weber.

Huizenga has been ordered not to consume alcohol or illegal drugs or prescription medication unless prescribed. He must submit to drug screening every Mondays and Thursdays, have no contact with the alleged victim and appear at all scheduled hearings.
