MENDON — There will be a Simply Patsy Concert from 6:30 to 9:15 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at the Mendon ball park shelter.
The free concert will feature Mary Pfeifer from Gardener, Illinois, performing Cline’s greatest hits from 1955-1963. Bring a lawn chair.
Mary Pfeifer only recently discovered her ‘Patsy’ voice that was within her. In 2009 she auditioned and got the part of Patsy Cline in the stage play “Always Patsy Cline”, performing all week long to sold-out audiences at the Engle Lane Theatre in Streator, Illinois. The play met with such great success, that it launched a Patsy Cline one-man show for Mary, as well as a full Patsy Cline tribute band- Mary Pfeifer and The Pearl Handle Band. Mary has performed her ‘Simply Patsy’ tribute as the featured performer at The Bement County Opry, Bement, Illinois, at Festival 56 in Princeton, at the Annual Thresherman’s Reunion, and five times t Boot City Opry in Terre Haute, Indiana, as well as county fairs and local festivals. Mary also performed her ‘Simply Patsy’ for White Pines Inn, Oregon, IL and is returning for her tenth season at Starved Rock State Park in Utica, IL in their TRIBUTE TO THE STARS series. Mary does not consider herself and imitator of Patys Cline, feeling strongly that there is only one Patsy Cline, but considers herself an ambassador of her music, giving tribute to her life and songs. She likes to ‘Patsify’ her audiences with facts and trivia about the amazing young entertainer that left this world in the prime of her life. Dressed in Patsy-like attire, Mary will not disappoint her listeners as her Patsy-like voice takes them from her early recordings to her top charted hits.
