Rucker was born and raised in southeastern Tennessee, at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. He grew up in a working-class family and was constantly exposed and drawn to cheap, cartoon imagery that was readily available to him. He learned to draw and paint at a young age, mostly copying these cartoons or painting landscapes in oil. After graduating high school, he enrolled at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2015. He recently completed his Master of Fine Arts at The Ohio State University. He lives and works in Columbus.
