KALIDA — A Kalida maintenance worker early Monday morning reported extensive damage done to the Four Seasons Park men’s and women’s restrooms that took place sometime between Saturday and Monday.
Kalida Police Department Chief Jim Gulker said he received the report of the damage to the restrooms in the building, located in the middle of the park that is known as the Powerhouse.
“There were soap dispensers smashed with a large piece of firewood used, it is assumed to try and break off the sinks off the wall,” Gulker said.
Pieces of asphalt were used to break the mirror that was hanging on the wall in one of the restrooms. The damage information was posted to the police department’s Facebook page Monday afternoon.
Gulker said this incident has been the most severe reported to him.
“We’ve had trash cans knocked over inside the park and the restroom before, but monetarily this is the most damage,” Gulker said.
He added that the damage could have been a lot worse if they were able to knock the sinks off the wall. He said the soap dispensers will need to be replaced, and there is the time and labor the maintenance workers will need to put in to clean the restrooms. He said that will take a couple of man-hours to complete.
It is unknown who committed the crime and it is still under investigation, according to Gulker. If anyone has information about the incident, call Gulker at 419-532-3030.
