OTTAWA — The Putnam County Board of Elections recently approved reducing the number of polling locations in the county from 18 to 12 to make voting quicker and more efficient.
“The county received new voting equipment, so the board decided to combine polling locations to save the county money,” said Karen Lammers, Putnam County Board of Elections director.
The locations will be streamlined for the Nov. 5 election, when the new voting equipment will be used at the new polling locations. She said the new voting equipment will allow for a quicker and smoother voting process.
Lammers said the previous voting equipment was outdated, and the county paid for employees to train on the new equipment in August.
Early voting begins Oct. 8, and voters are asked to bring their driver’s license and vote at the Putnam County Board of Elections, 575 Ottawa Glandorf Road, Ottawa. Absentee voting applications can be obtained online at putnamcountyohio.gov.
