LIMA — In its first weekend, City Wide Pride collected 19 tons of trash and 562 tires from five trash receptacle sites, and event organizers expect even more trash to be gathered next weekend.
“We did an awesome job throughout the city. We’re hoping to do two more weekends,” Neighborhood Specialist Autumn Swanson said.
An annual event, City Wide Pride provides trash receptacles for residents to drop off any extra refuse they may have had laying around this winter in order to eliminate extra trash that residents may be hoarding. Receptacles will be available from 9 a.m. to noon on both this Saturday and May 18.
During Saturday’s event, receptacles will be located at Elite Paving and Seal Coating, 1040 Findlay Road; The State Bank and Trust Company, 930 W. Spring St.; Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, 828 Bellefontaine Ave.; and Lima Mennonite Church, 1318 N. Main St.
OmniSource will also be accepting items at 1318 N. Main St. An additional roll-off container will also be placed at 900 S. Collett St. for scrap metal items on both weekends.
For a listing of items that City Wide Pride will be accepting as well as site locations, residents are encouraged to visit the City of Lima website or the City of Lima Department of Community Development Facebook page. Residents can also contact Swanson at 419-221-5177 if they have any questions.
