LIMA — A GoFundMe page has been established to help with funeral arrangements for a longtime Lima criminal defense attorney.
Gregory “Greg” Donohue died May 5 in the intensive care unit at Memorial Health System of complications of cancer. He was diagnosed more than a year ago with Stage 3 cancer.
Because of his dedication to his clients, he opted to work until his final days rather than receive treatment, according to Matt Annati of Fort Lacteal, Fla., who established the GoFundMe page.
Donohue was a criminal defense attorney in Lima for more than 30 years. He is survived by a son William; a grandson, Connor; and two step-daughters, Sarah and Rebecca.
“He had made no arrangements for his passing and access to his accounts will take a few weeks, so we are asking the community to make donations to pay for his burial here in Lima,” Annati wrote.
Money would be used for Donohue’s burial services, head stone and a plaque for the county courthouse. If any funds are left over after all costs are paid, a donation will be made to the local animal shelter in his name, as Greg loved dogs, Annati said.
