Continental man accused of rape awaits lie detector results

OTTAWA — A pretrial hearing scheduled Monday for Continental resident Michael Huizenga, who has been charged with seven counts of rape and four counts of sexual imposition, has been postponed.

According to court officials, Huizenga’s attorney requested postponing the hearing to 9 a.m. May 15 to allow Huizenga, 51, to take a lie detector test.

Huizenga is accused of having sexual contact with a juvenile, less than 13 years of age, every year since 2013 in Putnam County. The year of birth of the alleged victim is 2009. He has been ordered not to consume alcohol or illegal drugs, or prescription medication unless prescribed. He must submit to drug screening every Monday and Thursday, have no contact with the alleged victim and appear at all scheduled hearings.
