LIMA — The Lima Area Concert Band will present “Dance the Night Away” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Veterans Memorial Civic Center, 7 Town Square, Lima.
The performance will include saxophonist Henning Schroeder.
Saxophonist Henning Schröeder performs as a soloist and in groups as diverse as the Berlin Philharmonic ic Orchestra, Max Raabe & Palast Orchester, Opus21, and together with his partner, pianist Yu-Lien The. He recently joined the acclaimed Capitol Quartet, in which he plays the baritone saxophone. As a performer, composer and lecturer, Henning has been featured at international conferences, such as the 2015 World Saxophone Congress “SaxOpen” in Strasbourg, France, or the 2016 Biennial Conference of the North American Saxophone Alliance in Texas. Inspired by his tenure at the University of Pelita Harapan in Indonesia, Henning has developed an interest in ethnomusicology, particularly focusing on the use of the saxophone in diverse music systems. His contributions to the 2014 book “Saxophon – Ein Instrument und sein Erfinder” reflect his broad interest in the history and diversification of the instrument. A dedicated pedagogue, Henning serves as Assistant Professor of Music at Ohio Northern University.
