SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Teachers and staff at Apollo Career Center are getting raises.
The Apollo school board, Monday night, approved a new three-year contract with the Apollo Education Association and a separate agreement with non-union staff members.
“First of all we want to thank the teachers for their work in the process because they were excellent to work with and just talked through a lot of different issues that we have going on here,” said Keith Horner, Apollo superintendent.
The board approved a 1.5% raise for each year and allowed for additional stipends each year. An identical agreement was passed for non-teaching personnel.
“We’ll always look at this a marathon and not a sprint and we want to make sure we’re healthy now and healthy in the future. I want to give people raises now and I would like to give them raises in the future,” said Horner.
The contract with the AEA affected around 100 members.
