LIMA — Tuesday is the best day to buy gas in Ohio, according to researchers with GasBuddy, a mobile app which tracks gas prices in cities across the U.S.

The GasBuddy study determined the best and worst days to buy gas based on gas price and foot traffic data collected between January and March 2019.

The results? Sunday is the best day to avoid lines. But it’s also one of the worst days to fill up, based on price. Monday and Tuesday mornings hit the sweet spot of short lines and low prices across the country, the analysis found.

“As the week progresses and our excitement builds for the weekend, gas prices also have a tendency to rise,” said Patrick DeHaan, of GasBuddy. “The most expensive day to fill-up barely remains Friday when looking at averages, while 16 states saw Saturday have the highest average price. Sundays represented the third-worst day to fill up, bringing our study to a conclusion that weekends are the worst time to fill up. You might as well flush money down the toilet.”

Those results shift slightly when looking at individual states. In Ohio, the best day to buy gas is Tuesday, while the worst day is Thursday.

Gas prices in Lima have been increasing since January, when the average price for regular gasoline in Lima fell to $1.84, according to regional price data collected by GasBuddy. The average price for regular gasoline was $2.59 in Lima on Monday.
