LIMA — A Lima would spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted on all charges against him alleging he engaged in sexual conduct with a victim less than 10 years of age.
Keith Overmyer, 65, of Lima, entered pleas of not guilty Friday in Allen County Common Pleas Court to 10 counts of rape, first-degree felonies, and four counts of gross sexual imposition, third-degree felonies.
Nine of the rape charges allege that from Jan. 1, 2017, until March 9, 2019, Overmyer engaged in sexual conduct with a female under the age of 13.
During that same time period, the Wales Avenue resident is alleged to have had sex with a victim under the age of 10. If convicted of that charge alone, Overmyer could be sentenced to life in prison. The remaining nine rape charges carry maximum prison terms of 11 years each.
During an initial hearing last month in Lima Municipal Court, Overmyer’s bond was set at $500,000. Assistant Allen County Prosecutor Kenneth Sturgill filed a motion that the affidavit in support of an arrest warrant for Overmyer be sealed. Judge Tammie Hursh approved that motion and ordered the details of the case to be shielded from public inspection “until further order of the court.”
During Friday’s arraignment hearing, an April 30 pretrial was set for Overmyer in the Allen County Common Pleas Courtroom of Judge Jeffrey Reed.
