Mobile home destroyed by fire; family of 10 left homeless in Bath Township


BATH TOWNSHIP — Firefighters from Bath Township responded to a mobile home fire Monday morning that resulted in the structure being declared a total loss.

Following a 911 emergency call, crews responded to 1912 E. Elm Street, Lima, and found a trailer with heavy fire and smoke showing.

The mobile home, owned by Offenbacher MHC LLC, of Wapakoneta, suffered damage estimated at $5,000 to the structure and $10,000 to the contents. The trailer was being leased by David Gipson. No one was home at the time of the fire, according to a report.

The family of two adults and eight children is being assisted by the Allen County chapter of the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
