LIMA — There will be a prayer collaboration event for the Allen County RTA at noon Sunday, April 7, at the RTA Terminal, 200 E. High St., Lima.
There will be services at 10 a.m. at Philippian Missionary Baptist Church and 11 a.m. at Shawnee United Methodist Church. At 11:45 a.m. the congregations will load buses at each church for the prayer service and fellowship at the RTA terminal at noon.
More than a year ago the congregations of Philippian Missionary Baptist Church and Shawnee United Methodist Church decided to work to bring the two churches together. A group was formed called The Collaborative, which is made up with five members from each church. The Collaborative meets monthly and discusses community issues and possible solutions. A recent focus of the group has been on the critical value of the Allen County RTA to the residents of Allen County.
The Collaborative decided to sponsor an event to make their congregations and the public more aware of RTA services, their impact on the Allen County community and the need to support the upcoming sales tax levy.
On Sunday, RTA Director, Shelia Haney will be featured speaker at Philippian. At approximately 11:45 the two church congregations will load onto RTA buses at Philippian and Shawnee UM, which will transport them to the RTA terminal.
The event at the RTA Terminal will include a prayer for the passage of the RTA levy as well as fellowship. Vibes Coffeehouse will be supplying coffee for the event.
