WAPAKONETA — A Piketon man faces 11 counts of rape and three counts gross sexual imposition with a child under age 13.
A pre-trial hearing was Wednesday morning when defendant Bradly Jewell, 26, 8537 Robb Beekman Hill Road, Piketon, met at Auglaize County Courthouse with his attorney, Gerald Siesel, an Auglaize County public defender.
According to an indictment from the Auglaize County Clerk of Courts office, on or between Aug. 15, 2015 and Aug. 15, 2017, Jewell did engage in sexual conduct with another who is not the spouse of the offender and the other person is less than 13 years of age. The indictment states the act is a felony of the first degree subject to a prison term consisting of a minimum of 15 years and a maximum term of life imprisonment, with the potential for life imprisonment without the potential for parole.
The indictment includes rape charges with two on Aug. 15, 2015, six on Sept. 1, 2017, three on Jan. 1, 2018 and gross sexual imposition charges on April 18, 2018, May 19, 2018, and Jan. 1, 2018.
Auglaize County Common Pleas Judge Frederick Pepple and Prosecuting Attorney Edwin Pierce met Monday with Siesel.
“The attorney and client were given an opportunity to confer with each other and then they report to the court what they want scheduled next,” Pepple said.
Jewell and Siesel were not ready to set a trial date because they are still in earlier stages of the proceeding, according to Pepple. A future hearing date has not yet been set and will be scheduled in the next few weeks.
The Auglaize County Grand Jury returned the indictment against Jewell which was filed in the Auglaize County Common Pleas court.
