LIMA — The Ohio State Beauty Academy student talent showcase will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at the UNOH Event Center, 1450 N. Cable Road, Lima.
The showcase, themed The Secret Garden, will feature hairstyles inspired by buds, blooms and rainbow of colors associated with flowers found in gardens across the country. The avant garde hairstyles will be paired with creative makeup applications, nail art and costume designs.
There are 40 students participating in the showcase. The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m.
There are 40 students participating in “The Secret Garden” event. Models in the show will walk the runway showing off their hairstyles, makeup applications, nail art, and costume designs inspired by a specific flower chosen by random draw in February. Since then, students have been preparing their looks and will be making final touches the day of the showcase.
Students will be judged on creativity and execution by a panel of judges. Each student will be judged on the following criteria: Creativity and Uniqueness, Degree of Difficulty and Technical Skill, and Presentation/Neatness. Students will be competing in six categories: Hair Design, Makeup Application, Nail Art, Costume Design, Peer Evaluation, and Viewer’s Choice. There will be a first through third place winner in each category. Winners will receive a certificate, medal, and bragging rights at OSBA! Each participant and model will receive a participation gift.
