Celina Education Association filed unfair labor practices complaint

CELINA — The Celina Education Association has filed an unfair labor practice charge against the Celina City School District Board of Education.

In the formal complaint, the teachers union contend the board of education has refused to bargain in good faith.

The teachers union claims after a collective bargaining agreement was ratified Sept. 1, 2018, Superintendent Ken Schmiesing mentioned at a December meeting with the CEA that there could be potential reductions in staff in 2019-2020.

The union claims the cost-cutting measures are based upon an inaccurate five-year forecast which overestimates the cost of the newly-negotiated CEA CBA.
