BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF PUTNAM COUNTY BOWL FOR KIDS’SAKE
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Putnam County will kick off Bowl for Kids’ Sake with a Community and Littles bowling event on March 2, 2019 at Pandora Sports Center. After the huge success of the “Battle of the Banks” Event in 2018, in 2019 the Battle of the Banks, First Responders, Service Clubs and Schools will take place on March 9 at Ottawa Highland Lanes. The Putnam County banks and others groups will begin mini fundraisers in addition to their corporate donation. The money raised by each participating team will be added to their total bowling score with 4 people. The group in each event with the largest grand total will be awarded a traveling trophy/plaque or banner for the next year to display in their lobby, meeting space or station.
This “Battle” event will happen at Ottawa Highland Lanes on March 9th. First Responders will bowl at noon, currently we have 7 teams, Schools are slated for 1:30pm and the Banks and Service Clubs are at 3pm. Come out and cheer them on. This event will also be an 8-pin no tap event for those that might consider themselves not very good.
All other bowlers and teams can participate during other shifts at Pandora on March 2nd and will be 11:00 am & 12:30 pm. This will be a glow bowl event, with our event shirts glowing in the dark.

Current Bank teams battling are Huntington Bank, Union Bank, First Federal, First National, and Superior Credit Union. We could use a couple more but the OG Jaycees and Ottawa Rotary have committed to the Service Club event. Kalida, Ottawa, Ottoville, Ft. Jennings, and Delphos Fire Departments have all committed teams to participate in the First Responders event. Several schools are also participating.
Big Brothers Big Sisters matches children throughout Putnam County in one-to-one mentoring relationships and has school-based programs in Ottawa Elementary, Ottoville and Pandora-Gilboa. Kids in the mentoring program do better in school and avoid risky behavior including delinquency.
“All money raised from Bowl for Kids’ Sake stays in Putnam County helping Putnam County Kids.” Says BBB’s Program Specialist Melissa Weaver, an Ottawa-Glandorf alum. “Bowl for Kids’ Sake brings the whole community together in support of a positive future for our kids.” Big Brothers Big Sisters of Putnam County is an affiliate of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the nation’s leader in providing one-to-one youth mentoring.
Funds raised will allow big Brothers Big Sisters to expand its programs in Putnam County-match more children and provide ongoing assistance to mentors, children and families.
