Hardin County OSU Extension hosting soybean workshop


Soybean management workshop: 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Hardin County Extension office, 1021 W. Lima St., Kenton. $35 class fee.

KENTON — Several OSU Extension state specialists will be holding a soybean management workshop from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Hardin County Extension office, 1021 W. Lima St., Kenton. The workshop is open to soybean producers across the state.

Class fee is $35. Register at go.osu.edu/hardinsoybean or call the Hardin County OSU Extension office at 419-674-2297 to sign-up.

Topics and presenters for the day-long event include: Soybean Production Management Strategies by Dr. Laura Lindsey, Soybean and Wheat Extension Specialist; Soybean Weed Management Update by Dr. Mark Loux, Extension Weed Specialist; Soybean Disease Management by Dr. Anne Dorrance, Field Crop Extension Pathologist; Breaking yield barriers through soybean breeding and variety trial programs by Dr. Leah McHale, Soybean Breeding and Genetics Specialist; Soybean Insect Management by Dr. Kelley Tilmon, Field Crop Extension Entomologist; and Soybean Fertility Update by Dr. Steve Culman, Soil Fertility Extension Specialist.

Local farmers will want to sign up for this special event as not very often are six OSU Extension state specialists in the same county on the same day. In addition to the presentations throughout the day, participants will receive a soybean management notebook that will include several useful management publications such as: The Ohio Agronomy Guide or Weed Control Guide, Profitable Soybean Disease Management in Ohio, Ohio Corn, Soybean, Wheat, and Alfalfa Guide, and Stink Bug of Ohio Soybean Field Guide. Certified Crop Adviser and other continuing education credits are pending for those who need them. Soybean production questions will be answered, so come prepared to ask questions of these experts to help make your soybean production more profitable.

There is a class fee of $35.00 per person to participate in this all day workshop that includes lunch, books, and handouts.
