LIMA — Lima police are investigating vandalism done to Temple Beth Israel-Shaare Zedek on Lakewood Avenue in Lima.

According to Lima Police Sgt. Jason Warren, on Friday, a worker noticed vandalism done to several windows of the temple. He let police know about the vandalism on Saturday.

“It looked like the vandalism was caused by BB guns or a pellet gun,” said Warren.

“There’s no suspects at this time. We’re still looking into it and detectives are being assigned to it, just in case there’s any more motive beyond a vandalism. We’re giving it extra patrols as well,” he said.

Warren doesn’t believe this is a hate crime.

“There’s nothing to indicate that this is anything more than just a simple vandalism. It’s not uncommon to see this type of vandalism in Lima, with all of the kids that have BB guns or pellet guns,” Warren added.
