Snow brings hazardous driving conditions; Putnam County under Level 1

LIMA — A winter snowstorm brought hazardous driving conditions to our region Sunday, with conditions deteriorating beginning around 2 p.m.

Both Putnam and Allen counties both issued Level 1 roadway advisories after 6 p.m. Sunday. Allen County lifted its Level 1 at 3:21 a.m. Monday.

Lima police handled more than a dozen fender benders during the day and the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to several slide-offs and injury crashes on Interstate 75 between Shelby County and Hancock County. Both lanes of I-75 were shut down near Bluffton while emergency crews responded to a crash with serious injuries.

The Allen County Sheriff’s Office reports they responded to around two dozen crashes during the storm.
