Lima man charged with gross sexual imposition waives speedy trial rights

LIMA — A Lima man charged with two counts of gross sexual imposition waived his right to a speed trial Thursday morning in Allen County Common Pleas Court.

Robert Jarrell, 32, was indicted by a grand jury in December on the third-degree felony charges.

According to court documents, Jarrell in November of last year is alleged to have touched in inappropriate ways a girl under the age of 13.

A forensic interview of the alleged victim was conducted when the allegations became known to police, court records show.

Judge Jeffrey Reed on Thursday granted a time waiver in the case to allow Jarrell and his attorney, Jerry Pitts, additional time for trial.

A Feb. 5 trial date was vacated.
