LIMA — Sean Coby, of Lima, brought his 1991 Chevy Camaro Z28 to the Westgate Charity Car Show last June. He has owned it for one year.
“My mom’s boyfriend gave it to me as a wedding gift,” Coby said.
The three characters Z28 evoke visions of fast cars winning in the Trans Am circuit, which is just what the engineer, Vincent Piggins, had in mind when he created it. He developed a performance image for the Chevy Camaro that would rival Ford’s Mustang.
The racing image stuck, and Americans were hooked on Chevy’s Z28.
The print advertising for the 1991 model year stated: “Camaro Z28 is back. Gentlemen, don’t even bother to start your engines. “
One thing’s for certain: Coby will most likely never forget his anniversary after receiving this treasured wedding gift.
