Kim A. Redman was sworn-in as clerk of the Putnam County Clerk of Courts, and Dr. Jennifer R. Maag was sworn-in as the Putnam County Coroner. Both terms are set to expire on Jan. 3, 2021.

Jan. 4

Megan E. Schnipke, 32, 501 W. Sycamore St., Columbus Grove, was sentenced to 60 days jail after being found guilty by a jury on a charge of forgery and gross patient neglect. Schnipke was given credit for one day served, must pay restitution of $4,536.88 and complete 100 hours of community service. A charge of patient neglect was dismissed.

Schnipke, along with Rachel R. Friesel, 37, of Pandora, and Destini M. Fenbert, 20, of Pandora, were charged in connection to the death of 76-year-old Phyllis J. Campbell on Jan. 7 at Hilty Memorial Nursing Home. Friesel and Fenbert were both sentenced to 60-days jail on charges of forgery and gross patient neglect.

According to the Ohio Department of Health, Campbell was a resident of the memory care unit at Hilty. At 12:35 a.m. Jan. 7, Campbell wandered through a propped-open door to the dining room and left the facility through a door to the courtyard.

Putnam County Municipal Court dispositions

Jan. 3

Gregory J. Cavanaugh, 61, 12187 Road 8, Ottawa, pleaded guilty to OVI. Sentence: Six points, 180 days jail, 177 days jail suspended, $750 fine, $375 suspended, six-month license suspension, with credit for three days jail upon completion of DIP. A charge of left of center was dismissed.

Cristian G. Santiago, 22, 570 Meadow Drive, Marysville, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of physical control while under the influence. Sentence: 180 days jail, 177 days jail suspended, $750 fine, $375 suspended, license suspended for 90 days, and complete alcohol and drug assessment. A charge of failure to control was dismissed.

Troy A. Warnecke, 19, 13744 Road 24, Cloverdale, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of second-offense reckless operation. Sentence: Four points, 30 days jail, suspended, $250 fine, one-year license suspension. Charges of OVI and high beams offense were dismissed.
