LIMA — The Ottawa River Coalition Annual Meeting is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at The City Club, 144 S. Main St., Lima.
Speaker John Hoffman will highlight the event with a presentation on the international program, Water for People.
Tickets for the event cost $25 per person and include a buffet-style meal. The business meeting and program will begin at 6:30 p.m. Call Coalition Coordinator Beth Seibert for tickets at 419-303- 5110.
The Ottawa River Coalition will conduct their 2019 Annual Meeting on Saturday, January 12th at The City Club in Lima. Highlighting the meeting will be a presentation from John Hoffman on the international program – Water For People. Within the past year, Hoffman visited Malawi, Africa and participated in a safe water and sanitation project there. The Water For People campaign is aiming to impact the 2.1 billion people around the world that don’t have access to safe water and prevent the 840,000 deaths each year from water-related diseases. John Hoffman is the CEO of Alloway, a Lima based, full service environmental laboratory specializing in analyses on drinking water, wastewater, and solid and hazardous waste. Alloway has been raising awareness and money for the Water For People project for nearly a decade.
The evening will also feature presentation of the following awards:
2019 Member Organization of the Year – Alloway
2019 Volunteer of the Year – Kevin Cox
2019 Watershed Improvement Award – City of Lima
And the following will be seated as officers of the organization for 2019:
Chairman – Cory Gonya, representing Nutrien
Vice Chair – Joe Gearing, representing the Allen County Engineer’s Office
Treasurer – Sophia Fisher, representing Lima Allen County Regional Planning Commission
The Ottawa River Coalition is a nonprofit collaboration of agencies, businesses and organizations. Their common connection is a shared interest in the health and well-being of our community and the life-giving natural resource that runs through it — the Ottawa River.
