ROCKFORD — Jerry and Sally Jo Bolenbaugh brought their 1966 Mercury Park Lane to the Westgate Charity Car Show. They have owned the car for 16 years.

“She didn’t like the car I had,” Jerry Bolenbaugh said. “I had a 1977 Ford Ranchero. She picked this out.”

Sally Jon Bolenbaugh added, “I saw this and fell in love with it.”

The Mercury Park Lane was produced for model years 1958 to 1968.

The 1966 Mercury Park Lane two-door coupe would cost $3,387. There were approximately 8,354 Park Lanes produced for the 1966 model year.

The Park Lane went through a complete redesign in 1965. New for the 1966 model year were the wrap-around tail lights, and the grille and hood were tweaked.

Ford introduced the Merc-O-Matic in 1966 to help propel the 4,000-pound car down the road.

As Bolenbaugh learned: Happy wife, happy life.
